Onlays

Onlays have been in use since 1984. They are tooth-colored restorative materials and are a higher quality than silver fillings or composite fillings (white fillings). Onlays provide exceptional strength, durability and service in medium to large size fillings Think of onlays as an immediate procedure that falls in between a filling and a crown. This type of onlay is used where in the past; a crown (cap) was the only option. These types of onlays are highly esthetic and allow for optimal conservation of tooth structure, where traditional crowns or caps are necessarily more aggressive in their reduction of tooth structure. The ability to bond these in place allows for the tooth to be strengthened as well. In tooth-colored restorative materials, this is the finest option currently available and is highly recommended.
